NATIONAL CADET CORPS (NCC)

The National Cadet Corps (NCC), in colleges, in particular, is a youth development movement. The cadets of NCC, develop in them, a sense of duty, commitment, discipline, dedication and moral values towards becoming responsible citizens. By providing exposure to a wide range of activities on social services and adventure training, in consonance with its motto “Unity and Discipline”, NCC helps its cadets to become significant in Nation building.

With such a sense of nationalism and secular outlook, the NCC unit of this college is always carrying out activities with a distinct emphasis on social services, discipline and adventure training. The unit feels proud in enlisting a few such recent significant activities.

NCC Activities 2016-2017

Discipline & Adventure Training Activities

The activities of 1(TN) BN NCC 4th company of Sir Theagaraya College commenced with the enrollment of 133 SD and 30 SW cadets. 29 SD and 08 SW cadets from this company attended first Combined Annual Training Camp at VIT University, Vandalur, from 9th to 18th, June 2016. 18 SD and 02 SW cadets from this company attended Combined Annual Training Camp at Dhanalakshmi Engineering College, Tambaram, from 8th to 17th, October 2016. While cadet R.D. Kowsalya attended the Pre IGC camp at Dhanalakshmi Engineering College, Tambaram, from 8th to 17th, October 2016, Cadet R.Rohan attended the RDC selection camp at Bharath University, Tambaram, from 3rd to 13th, July 2016. 06 SD cadets attended the first Tal Sainik selection camp at RPT College, Vellore, from 21st to 30th, May 2016. Cadet V.Karthick and Cadet V.Ganapathy attended the IGC Tal Sainik selection camp at VIT University, Vandalur, from 20th to 29th, June 2016. CUO K.Arun Kumar and CQMS R.Balaji attended the Basic Leadership training at Coimbatore during the period, 8th to 18th, July 2016. Cadet N.Mahalakshmi and Cadet A.Sivaranjini attended the National Integration Camp at Varanasi, from 6th to 19th, October 2016. CUO K.Arun Kumar and SGT K.Vishnu attended the Trekking Camp at Belgaum, Karnataka, during 14th to 23rd, December 2016. 04 SD cadets attended Army attachment camp at Dogra Regiment, Secundrabad during the period, January 31st to 15th, February 2017.

Social service activities

20 SD cadets participated in the “Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking rally” at the Marina beach on the 26th of June 2016. 20 SD cadets participated in the “Traffic Control” programme at the Tondiarpet area on the 11th of July 2016. 45 SD cadets participated in the “Bank crowd control and regulation work” at various Banks on the 29th of October 2016. 15 SD and 02 SW Cadets participated in the “Neelankarai Beach Cleanup” drive on the 15th of February 2017. 20 SD cadets participated in the “Rubella immunization (vaccination) programme” for the children at Royapuram and Washermenpet areas for 06 days from 3rd of March to 8th of March 2017.
