"CAPITAL MARKET"

The Department of Commerce has organised a workshop entitled, “Capital Market, Investments and IT exemptions”, an Investor Awareness Programme, on 8th October 2016. The programme was sponsored by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. Dr. M.S.Sankar, FCA, ACS, Ph.D., Additional Director and Finance Advisor, Directorate of Collegiate Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, Chennai, inaugurated the workshop. Shri. Gopal Krishna Raju, FCA, ACMA, ACS, Member, Southern Indian Regional Council, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and Practicing Chartered Accountant was the chief guest and delivered a speech on investment. The main objective of this programme was to spread the knowledge about capital market, investments and IT exemptions among faculty members and final year B.Com students.

Dr. K.Vasuki, Associate Professor and Head, welcomed the gathering. Dr. G.Ravichandra Babu, Principal presided over the function. Shri M.Balaguruvappa, Member, Sir Theagaraya College committee graced the occasion by his presence.

Dr. M.S.Sankar, in his inaugural address explained how and why investors should be careful before investing in any Instrument. He cited many cases wherein it was difficult to recover the amount invested [in fraudulent companies].

Shri Gopal Krishna Raju, in his speech, explained the ways and means by which public can invest safely. He also threw light on the “Tricks of the Trade” in tax savings available on certain investments. Shri Raju suggested that, as investors, it is the prime duty of the investor to enquire in detail about the companies, schemes, etc. before investing.
