ANNUAL REPORT 2010 – 11

The activities of 1 (TN) BN NCC, 4th Company of Sir Theagaraya College Commenced with the enrollment of 113 Senior Division (SD) and 17 Senior Women (SW) Cadets into first year. Already there were 36 SD and 08 SW Cadets in Cadets in second year and 11 SD and 05 SW Cadets in third year. With these, company reached its full complement of 190 Cadets. Our parades for the academic year commenced on 15th August 2010 and completed the required number of 20 Parades (120 Training Periods) on

Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC)

Our company Cadets have been enthusiastically attending any type of camp every year. Asusual this year our company Cadets attended the following camps.

1.Our company 4 SW Cadets attended the first Combined Annual Training Camp at C.R.P.F. Campus Avadi during the period June 26th to July 5th 2010.

2.Our company 6 SD Cadets attended the Second Combined Annual Training Camp at C.R.P.F. Campus Avadi during the period September 2nd to 11th October 2010.

Republic Day Camp (RDC)

1.The selected 06 SD and 4 SW Cadets from the first CATC camp attended the RDC selection camp at C.R.P.F campus, Avadi during the period June 16th to 25th June 2010.

2 The selected 07 SD and 2 SW Cadets attend the second selection camp at C.R.P.F campus, Avadi during the period June 16^th to 25^th June 2010.

3.The selected 13 SD Cadets attend the third camp at C.R.P.F campus, Avadi during the period July 24^th to 02^nd August 2010.

4.These 10 SD Cadets attend the Selection Camp at C.R.P.F campus, Avadi during the period September 2^nd to 11^th September 2010.

5.These 11 SD Cadets attend the Pre – IGC selection Camp at A.M Jain College, Meenambakam during the period September 16^th to 25^th September 2010.

6.Again these 11 SD Cadets attend the IGC Camp at Thiruchirapalli during the period September 26^th to 05^th October 2010.

7.After that our Cdt. E. BASKAR attended the Pre – RD Camp at Thriuchirapalli during the period November 13^th to 22^nd November 2010.

8.Our Cadet E. BASKAR selected for Launch I Camp at C.R.P.F campus, Avadi from December 9^th to 19^th December 2010.

Tal Sainik Camp (TSC)

1.06 SD Cadets attended the first Tal Sainic Training & Selection Camp at C.R.P.F campus, Avadi during the period June 16th to 25th June 2010.

2.The selected 02 SD Cadets attend the second selection camp at C.R.P.F campus, Avadi during the period June 26^th to 5^th July 2010.

3.Again the Cdt. P. Dinesh attends the TSC – IGC at Madurai during the period July 9^th to 19^th July 2010.

4.Finally our Cdt. P. Dinesh attends the Launch I at Virudhunagar during the period August 15^th to 25^th August 2010.

All India Camps

1.CUO. D. Sangeetha attended a National Integration Camp at Kavarathi in Lakshadweep during the period April 12th to 24th April 2010

2.CUO. K. Sivabalan attended a Mountaineering Camp at New Delhi during the period May 16^th to 25^th June 2010.

3.Sgt. D. Dharmesh attended a Mountaineering Course at Nehru Institute of Mountaineering Course during the period June 26^th to 10 July 2010.

GUARD OF HONOUR FOR VIP’S

Guard of Honour was given to the Vice – Chancellor of the Madras University Cornel. Dr. G. Thiruvasakam by our S.D Cadets on 8th September 2010 for the convocation function of Sir Theagaraya College.

Our company 3 SD Cadets participated in the Guard of Honour given to the Deputy DG NCC on behalf of 1 TN (Bn) NCC Day celebrations at Madras Veterinary College on 24^th November 2010.

On this occasion, I offer my grateful thanks to the Principal and the Managing Committee members for providing an opportunity as a Supervisor of our NCC unit. I am grateful to our COMMANDING OFFICERS, JCOs and NCOs who gave their best to train Cadets.

Social Service Activities

Social Service is one of the Major parts of NCC training. These activities have become a way of life for our company SD/SW Cadets every year. Our company Cadets have done the following Social Service activities during the academic year 2010 – 2011.

1.5 SD & 5 SW Cadets attended Observance of Anti Terrorism Day Programme organised by Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD) at Sri Perumpudur on 21st May 2010.

2.30 SD and SW Cadets attended an Area Cleaning work and also issued the Food Packets to the in patients under the guidance of our Company “Supervising Officer” Dr. G. Ravichandra Babu on 26th June 2010 at Government Peripheral Hospital, Tondiarpet, Chennai-21.

3.15 SD & 23 SW Cadets attended the Anti-Tobacco Awareness Rally Organized by our Sir Theagaraya College, 1 TN (Bn) NCC 4th Coy on 15th October 2010 under the leadership of CQMS S. PANDIARAJ.

4.26 SD Cadets attended an Area Cleaning work at Narbhavi Orphanage, run by T.S.R. & M.K. Trust, Rajakadai, North Chennai on 23rd October 2010 under the leadership of CUO. R. Sathish Kumar and CSM. J. Gajendran

5.19 SD & 11 SW Cadets attended an Area Cleaning work at Government Peripheral Hospital, Tondiarpet, Chennai – 21 on 29th November 2010 under the leadership of CUO.R.G.Saravanan and SGT. M. Karthika

6.32SD Cadets participated in the Traffic Control Duties for a week from 8th to 10th November 2010 in association with North Chennai Traffic Police under the leadership of CQMS S. Pandiaraj and CSM J.Gajendran.

7.0SW Cadets attended the Nursing Assistance and Room Cleaning Work at Govt. R.S.R.M. Hospital on 13th and 14th December 2010 under the leadership of SGT M.Karthika

8.21SD and 18SW Cadets attended the Area cleaning Camp and Teaching work at Tamil Nadu Association of the Blind, Chennai – 81 on 23rd and 24th December 2011 under the leadership of SGT M.Karthika and SGT A.Revathi.

9.50 SD & SW Cadets attended the Aids - Awareness Rally Organized by our Sir Theagaraya College, 1 TN (Bn) NCC 4th Coy on 15th October 2010 under the leadership of CUO A.Amirthalingam and SGT A. Revathi.

10.15SW Cadets attended the Area Cleaning Camp at The Madras Society for the Protection of Children, Old Washermenpet, Chennai – 21 on 28th December to 30th December 2010 under the leadership of SGT M.Karthika and SGT A.Revathi.

11.Our Company has organized a Blood Donation Camp in the college and collected 250 units of blood on 11th December 2010 under the leadership of CUO R.Sathish kumar and CSM J. Gajendran in Association with Madras Voluntary Blood Bank.

12 Our Company has also organized the Eye Donation Camp in the College campus on 20th January 2011 and collected eye donation forms from 300 volunteers under the leadership of CUO K. Sivabalan and CUO B. Sangeetha.

13 30 SD & SW Cadets attended the Multiple Sclerosis Society of India Chapter Awareness Campaign Walk Along 2011 conducted by NCC Group Madras ‘A’ on 27th February 2011.

Honours and Awards

Our Company Cadets have been registering creditable performance in various events and winning prizes every year. This year our SD / SW Cadets won the following prizes in various events.

Certificate Examination:

28 SD and 9 SW Cadets appeared for the ‘B’ Certificate Examination. 11SD and 05SW Cadets will be appearing for ‘C’ Certificate Examinations on 12^th & 13^th of this month. We hope to score very good results in these examinations.

Having presented my company performance report for this year, it is my duty to express my hearty thanks to all the persons who have been behind us. We express our hearty thanks to our principal Dr. D. Subramanya Raju for his support in all of our company activities.

Our company has been occupying the prime place in the NCC activities in Chennai. This is because of the praise worthy and excellent co-operation in all respects given by our commanding officers.

We thank our PI Staffs, JCO’s and NCO’s for their sincere efforts in imparting the best possible training to Cadets. We extend our heartful thanks to the civilian staff who has given the efficient guidance. Our sincere thanks to the superintendent Mr. J. Bharnaidharan for his valuable guidance to our company.

I would like to thank the all our Senior Cadets for maintaining the time schedule in completing the parades in a disciplined manner and also for the former S.D. & SW Senior Cadets for their co-operation in NCC activities.

Our sincere thanks to the Major. U. Madhusudhana Rao, former N.C.C officer, Sir Theagaraya College for his valuable suggestions and guidance to our company.

I would like to thank all our teaching and non-teaching staffs of both Day and Evening College for their efficient team assistants and their best co-operation given to our NCC unit.
