Vision

The department’s vision is to render Physical Education Programme for the wholesome development [soft and hard skills] of the individuals, in order to survive and sustain in the present competitive world and preparing the youth towards nation building.

Mission

To instill an everlasting urge in students to learn and think clearly and objectively; to develop energy and vitality in them and enable them to perform effectively to bring peace and prosperity in society.

SPORTS DAY - 2017

Introduction

Since its establishment in 1957, the Department of Physical Education has been growing steadily and expanding its services in the field of education and sports. The Physical Director and Physical Training Instructors have toiled hard to identify and train potential sportsmen at the right time which has yielded desired results in producing excellent sportsmen who have won laurels.

The department conducts physical education programmes (both intramural and extramural sports activities) for the students throughout the year to promote leadership, harmony, fitness, healthy competitions and other sportsmanship qualities. Professionally trained specialists in sports extend their services in coaching the students in various sports and games apart from special lectures from experts in the field of physical education. The programmes for the students are so designed to match the age group of the youth in the higher learning institutions. The keen interest and motivation shown by the Secretary & correspondent of this Institution, Shri. P.Kumaraswami, B.Pharm., and his involvement and encouragements for the cause of physical education and sports have to be placed on records.

Mr. D.Jayaraman’s contribution in the preparation as well as keeping the play fields ready at any time, as a Marker, needs to be mentioned and appreciated.

  1. Organizing committee member for ‘Dr. A.Lakshmanasami Mudaliar Silver Jubilee Commemoration Athletics meet’ from 1999 to till date.
  2. Selection committee member to select Chess, Table-Tennis, Kabaddi & Football teams of the University of Madras (Zone and Inter-Zone).
